Was Jon Coachman really the best they could find?

PGA announced that in order to diversify the sport, they have added Jon Coachman to commentate certain events.

PGA REACH, the 501(c)3 charitable foundation of the PGA of America, has announced that sportscaster Jonathan “The Coach” Coachman, has become the newest PGA WORKS Ambassador. Coachman will help promote PGA REACH and its mission to diversify the golf industry’s workforce.

I completely understand and support this decision, but was Jon Coachman the best they could come up with..? He's constantly arguing with the people on air who actually know what their talking about, and he really likes yelling into the microphone (almost like Christina Kim does) when someone makes a decent approach shot.

Did they really think someone coming from professional wrestling (the acting/soap opera kind - NOT the Olympic sport) would make a good fit in the PGA?

Does anyone else think this was an odd decision? There must be dozens of other qualified candidates out there - whether they come from a broadcasting or golf background.

For what its worth, I would put my vote for Troy Mullins.
