For Spring 2018 PUMA Golf has introduced its new PWRADAPT Footwear collection.
The story is that PWRADPT delivers game-changing traction and comfort never seen before.
That’s a bold declaration which we’ll be taking a closer look at when we test footwear later this year. For now, we’ll mostly stick to the story as told by PUMA.
From my vantage point the PWRADPT family, with the exception of the all leather model, looks and feels like the evolution of the Ignite Spikeless Mesh and Ignite PWRSport Spikeless; the former leading to the latter, leading to this.
The new family of shoes, which feature a waterproof upper with a 2-year guarantee have several key PUMA footwear technologies in common.
PWRFRAME – Described as ultra-thin TPU structures, PWRFRAME provides stability without compromising comfort. As much as I love that Spikeless Mesh I mentioned above as an everyday shoe, three was a bit too much freedom of movement on the golf course. PWRFRAME should take care of that.
IGNITE Foam – A core PUMA golf shoe technology for several generations now, the IGNITE Foam midsole provides cushioning, and for my money, does an exceptionally good job at it. For the first time, PUMA is using IGNITE Foam over the entire length of the midsole.
PWRADAPT – Given that the technology matches the product name, it stands to reason that this is the new tech that binds this story. PWRAdapt is a new sole system that offers what PUMA calls 3-Dimensional Traction along with responsive cushioning.
I think what the company is driving at is super stable and super comfortable. In fact, PUMA has expressed that sentiment mathematically…or sorta mathematically.
More Traction + More Comfort = PWRADPT
“Without question, our new IGNITE PWRADAPT collection is the most technologically-advanced golf shoes we’ve ever made. Not only will golfers experience unrivaled traction and comfort thanks to our PWRADAPT pods, but the fit, feel and the overall design of the shoes are truly game-changing. Our goal each season is to provide the perfect blend of style and performance – and with our new PWRADAPT cleated footwear we’ve done just that.” - Grant Knudson, Global Head of Footwear & Accessories, PUMA Golf.
3 Models
The PWRAdapt Family consists of three distinct models. All feature premium Aniline Leather accents.
IGNITE PWRADAPT (pictured) – A laced version of the shoe, the IGNITE PWRADAPT offers the technologies listed above, along with a Comfort Construction mesh bootie design that replaces the traditional tongue.
IGNITE PWRADAPT DISC – Offers all the same features as the standard model, this version replaces laces with PUMA’s proprietary DISC tightening system for a more precise fit.
The IGNITE PWRADAPT and IGNITE PWRADPT DISC are available in Quiet Shade/Quiet Shade, Black/White, and Peacoat/White colorways.
IGNITE PWRADAPT LEATHER – offering a more sophisticated style, the PWRADAPT Leather offers a mesh hybrid bootie lining along with a premium full-grain leather upper.

Also, each model features a map of Carlsbad printed on the insole.
