Does the President's Cup do anything to dilute the importance of the Ryder Cup?

When it was US vs Great Britain (& Ireland), the Americans pretty much dominated the Ryder Cup. Even after they expanded it to all of Europe, the Americans were still doing well (winning five of the first eight Ryder Cups in the US vs Europe era).

Then in 1994, they created the Presidents Cup, which meant the Americans had a team event like this every year, instead of every other year. Since the Presidents Cup was created, the Americans have dominated this event, but the Europeans have dominated the Ryder Cup.

Any chance that's not a coincidence? This type of match play team event is now routine for the Americans, but maybe the biennial nature for the Europeans makes it more special?

Might it benefit both tournaments if the Americans made more of an attempt to get rookies involved in the Presidents Cup to use this as a training tournament for the Ryder Cup?
